Berthe Morisot and Impressionism

A Young woman in an elegant black gown with a posy of violets and deep dark eyes. That’s how Edouard Manet depicted Berthe Morisot in the years 1870. Is she a model like so many others? No, besides a patient model for some chosen painters, she is the only woman of a bunch of young, promising painters. She paints and takes part in exhibitions in the midst of this clan of men who appreciate and value her person and her work.
